Careers in the Classroom

Over the last few weeks we have interviewed some of our parents about the jobs they do. Dr Collette brought apples to share, we hammered and drilled when Mr Denny came and we learnt how to keep our smiles brighter when Mr Pienaar came. We learnt how to write questions during literacy time and it was great when we were able to "hot seat" our guests. They were great!

“Dr Collette had really nice and interesting tools.” Silke
“Thank you for telling us what you do and sharing your tools. I really liked the blood pressure tool.” Jack T
“Thank you for the apples because an apple a day keeps the doctor away.” Jonty
“Thank you for sharing showing us your tools, it was fun.” Petorukelani

“Thank you Mr Denny for showing us your tools, it was very fun. I really liked the drill.” Jaxson
“I really liked hammering in the nail.” Marisa
“Thank you for showing us all your tools. My favourite tool was the drill. I learnt that you don’t just become a builder, you have to learn how to become a builder.” Kiriwai
“I liked the nail gun.” Theresa.
“I liked your tools, Mr Denny but I might be a teacher.” Hinaia

“Thank you for giving out the toothpaste that we should have because it has fluoride to keep the bugs away.” Abby T
“Thank you for showing us your light for looking at teeth. Tres
“Thank you for showing us your tools that you brought. I really liked the glasses.” Simon
“Thank you for letting us ask you questions and telling us how long you went to university for.” Petorukelani

Exploring Geometry

Yesterday Mrs Hough came and took Room 1 and 2 together for a shared geometry lesson. She showed us a powerpoint with awesome photos of animals, buildings and works of art, filled with amazing shapes. After looking at these pictures and talking about the shapes we could see, we spent time using equipment and games in the classroom to make and sort shapes. It was fun!

How many rectangles can you see?

What about squares?

Shhh! It's a secret!

Mrs Prout wants us to visit our blog at home so she has put a pet on our blog to play with when we come. If we can tell her what pet she has put on by Monday then she'll put our name in the draw to win a prize! And don't forget that Mum's and Dad's who comment get chocolate fish from Mrs Hough!

Autumn Leaves

Today we collected leaves from around the school and produced our own "Autumn Trees" for our classroom wall. Here is what we produced.
