Junior Swimming Sports

What a great afternoon we had at Mahana School! It was a nice, hot afternoon, perfect for swimming and getting wet! Children enjoyed a range of activities, including getting in the pool, going down a waterside, playing a range of tabloid games and exploring the playground. Here are a few photos of the children.

Homework Challenge - Week 4 "The Hangi"

Hi Room 1, Here are some photos of the Hangi we had on Friday. It was great, wasn't it? Can you tell your Mum and Dad what happened during school time with the Hangi? What was the first thing that the men did? Then what did they do after that...? Ask Mum or Dad to record what you tell them in the form of a comment.

Homework Challenge Week 3 - The Abel Tasman Walk

Dear Room 1, Your homework challenge this week is to comment about what you enjoyed the most about our trip to the Abel Tasman.
A Shared Poem by Room 1:
The Abel Tasman
Can you remember playing in the cold, spooky cave?
And hearing the echo of people’s voices?
Can you remember smelling the sea water?
And feeling the cold, wet water on your legs as they disappeared under the salty water?
And getting scratches on your legs from the rocks?
That was the Abel Tasman.

The Abel Tasman   by Ashlee Tolson
Can you remember swimming in the salty water?
And going back to where we started and beating room 3 and room 4?
That was the Abel Tasman.

The Abel Tasman by Hannah-Rose
Can you remember when my Dad helped me get into the water?
And we went into the cave?
That was the Abel Tasman.

Swimming!!

Shared Writing by Room 1

As I put my foot into the water, a chilly feeling went straight up my legs. Splash, splash went the water as I kicked it with my feet. I walked, paddled, ran, dived, and swam until the water was warm! I slowly walked down the deep end until every bit of my hair was wet!

Homework Challenge - Week 1 - A visit from Bailey!

Dear Room 1,
Your homework challenge this week is to comment about what you liked the best about Bailey, William's Dog. Have your Mum or Dad help you do this - have a look in your homework book for instructions about how to post a comment!

Our Shared Story about Bailey
Bailey feels soft like the Cookie chair. She chases her tail round and round. She also bites her tail. Ouch! “Woof, woof,” barks Bailey. When we scratch her by the ears, she tries to kiss us with her wet, slobbery tongue. Yuck! Sniff, sniff, we had a little smell of Bailey and she was a bit stinky! Bailey is a good, friendly dog!
